"I thought I should be over this by now. I didn't know where else to turn."

If you've found yourself saying something like this, you're in the right place. Grief is not a problem to be fixed โ€” it's a journey to be supported.

Areas of Support

No two grief journeys look the same. Whether your loss is recent or has been quietly weighing on you for years, counselling can help you move forward.

๐Ÿ•Š๏ธ

Grief & Loss

Losing someone โ€” or something โ€” you love changes everything. Counselling gives you space to mourn fully and rebuild at your own pace.

  • Death of a loved one
  • Pet loss
  • Anticipatory grief
  • Disenfranchised grief
  • Complicated or prolonged grief
๐ŸŒฟ

Adoption Reunion

Reconnecting with biological family can bring deep joy โ€” and deep pain. Navigating identity, belonging, and complex emotions takes compassionate support.

  • Reconnecting after years apart
  • Identity and belonging questions
  • Grief over lost time
  • Navigating dual family systems
  • Relationships that don't go as hoped
๐Ÿ’›

Coping with Illness

Whether you're facing your own diagnosis or supporting a loved one, illness brings grief, fear, and uncertainty that can feel overwhelming.

  • Your own diagnosis
  • Caring for an ill family member
  • Fear of the unknown
  • Anticipatory loss
  • End-of-life conversations
๐ŸŒŠ

General Anxiety

Grief and anxiety often travel together. If worry, overthinking, or a pervasive sense of dread is getting in the way of daily life, you deserve support.

  • Persistent worry or rumination
  • Grief-related anxiety
  • Fear of loss or change
  • Difficulty sleeping or concentrating
  • Life transitions and uncertainty

Common Questions

How do I know if I'm ready for counselling?

You don't need to be at a breaking point to reach out. If something is weighing on you โ€” grief, anxiety, a difficult transition โ€” that's reason enough. Many people find that starting counselling before a crisis makes it much more effective.

What does a session look like?

Sessions typically run 50 minutes and are held via secure video or phone. We'll talk about what's on your mind, explore what's beneath the surface, and work on practical tools to help you cope โ€” all at a pace that feels right for you.

How many sessions will I need?

This varies depending on what you're working through. Some people find significant relief in 4โ€“6 sessions; others prefer ongoing monthly support. We'll discuss your goals together and revisit them as your needs evolve.

Is what I share kept confidential?

Yes. All sessions are strictly confidential. The only exceptions are required by law โ€” situations involving risk of harm to yourself or others. Michaele-Sue will explain this fully during your first session.

Does my insurance cover counselling?

Many extended health benefit plans in Ontario include coverage for registered therapists. We encourage you to check your plan details. If you need a receipt for insurance purposes, we can provide one.

What's the free consultation like?

The free 15-minute consultation is a relaxed, no-pressure conversation. You'll share a little about what's bringing you in, and Michaele-Sue will answer your questions. There's no commitment required โ€” it's simply a chance to see if the fit feels right.
